Our blog for the month of February is going to touch on a couple points that we wish to share with you. Over the course of years that OCWS has been in business, we have seen the many changes that technology has brought to the appliance industry, some seemingly advantageous at first glance. Many of the bells and whistles available on many models today seem heaven sent, but in actuality are expensive to repair when they need fixing, which they eventually do. Many new appliances don't last very long before needing that first repair. The quality just isn't there. For example, most brands of washers use to have something called an off-balance switch which was there to automatically shut off a water when a load was off balance and keep it from banging and/or walking all over the laundry room area. This part is no longer built into the machine, probably for cost saving purposes. Ovens with a self-cleaning mode seem heaven sent to any woman who's had to clean an oven the old-fashioned way. Unfortunately this feature causes more problems than it's worth. The extreme heat it uses to clean the oven damages the touch pad and electronic control panel. We advise our customers not to use this feature, or at least use it sparingly.  Another major point we wish to touch on is water quality, or rather the lack there of. Water in southern California is quite hard. Due to this fact we highly advise all our customers to use water softeners or get a service that will do this for you for a relatively small monthly fee. It's worth the expense because it will be easier on your plumbing and appliances. We hope these insights have been helpful to you and look forward to sharing more in the future.
